What is an EVEMS or DCC-12?
An EVEMS (Electric Vehicle Energy Management System) is a smart controller that monitors your home total electrical load in real time. When your oven, dryer, or air conditioner draws power, the EVEMS temporarily reduces the EV charger output to keep your total draw within the panel limit. When those loads turn off, it ramps the charger back up automatically.
The DCC-12 (Demand Charge Controller) by Schneider Electric is the most common product in this category. Eaton also makes an ESA-approved EVEMS unit. Both are fully permitted, code-compliant solutions that satisfy ESA requirements for Level 2 charging on a 100A service.
Full-Speed Charging
Charges at up to 40A when your other loads are off - typically overnight and most of the day.
ESA Approved
Every installation includes permit filing and a final ESA inspection. Fully code-compliant.
Save Up to $3,500
Avoid the cost of a 200A panel upgrade. EVEMS installation starts at $799 all-in.
EVEMS vs. Panel Upgrade
For most 100A panel homes, smart load management is the better first move.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I still be able to charge at full speed?
Most of the time, yes. The EVEMS only reduces charger output when your other large loads (oven, dryer, AC) are running simultaneously. During off-peak hours and overnight, you will charge at full speed. In practice, the average homeowner sees less than 5% reduction in total charging time.
Is an EVEMS a permanent solution or a temporary fix?
It is a permanent, ESA-approved solution. Many homeowners with 100A panels use smart load management for years without ever needing a panel upgrade. If your household electrical load grows significantly in the future, you can always upgrade the panel later.
Which EV charger brands work with EVEMS?
All major Level 2 charger brands are compatible: Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Grizzl-E, Wallbox Pulsar, JuiceBox, and Enel X JuiceBox. We configure the pairing during installation.
Do I need a permit for EVEMS installation?
Yes, and we handle it. Every EVEMS and DCC-12 installation we perform includes ESA permit filing and a final inspection. This protects your home insurance and ensures the installation is code-compliant.
What is the difference between EVEMS and DCC-12?
DCC-12 (Demand Charge Controller) is a specific product by Schneider Electric. EVEMS is the broader category of Energy Management Systems approved by the ESA for this purpose. We install both Schneider DCC-12 and Eaton EVEMS units depending on your panel make and model.
How long does installation take?
Most EVEMS installations are completed in 3 to 5 hours in a single visit. We arrive with all parts and the permit already filed. By end of day, you will be charging your EV at home.
