Active Programs
Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP)
Canada's new federal EV purchase incentive replaced the old iZEV program in February 2026. Get up to $5,000 off a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or up to $2,500 off a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) - applied at the dealership, no paperwork required.
- New BEV or PHEV purchase or lease on/after Feb 16, 2026
- Final transaction value at or under $50,000 (no cap for Canadian-made EVs)
- Vehicle must be built in Canada or a free-trade-agreement country
- One incentive per vehicle - applied directly at point of sale
The $5,000 BEV rebate is at its maximum in 2026 and will step down to $4,000 in 2027. Act now for the highest incentive.
Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) Rate Plan
Ontario's ULO rate plan offers dramatically cheaper electricity between 11pm and 7am - exactly when most EV owners charge. EV owners who shift charging to overnight can save hundreds per year compared to standard Time-of-Use pricing.
- Available to all residential customers of Toronto Hydro, Hydro One, and most Ontario utilities
- Switch online or by phone - no fee, no lock-in period
- Overnight rate as low as $0.028/kWh vs $0.179/kWh peak
- Works best with a smart Level 2 charger that can schedule charging times
Pair your new Level 2 charger with the ULO plan. A smart charger (Emporia, ChargePoint, Wallbox) lets you set an automatic overnight schedule from your phone.
Toronto Hydro PeakSaver Plus
Toronto Hydro's demand-response program offers a rebate toward a smart Level 2 EV charger installation when you enrol your charger in their PeakSaver demand-management network. The charger may briefly pause or reduce charging during peak grid events (typically a few hours per year).
- Toronto Hydro residential customers only
- Must install a qualifying smart Level 2 charger (Enel X, ChargePoint, or approved models)
- Charger must be enrolled in the PeakSaver demand-response program
- One rebate per residential address
Availability and amounts vary - confirm current status directly with Toronto Hydro before booking your installation. We can check eligibility as part of your free quote.
Alectra Utilities Smart Charger Rebate
Alectra Utilities (serving Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, and parts of the GTA) offers a rebate for homeowners who install a qualifying smart EV charger enrolled in their demand-response program.
- Alectra Utilities residential customers (Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Guelph, Vaughan, Barrie, Markham, Richmond Hill)
- Must install an Alectra-approved smart Level 2 charger
- Charger must be enrolled in demand-response program
Check your utility bill to confirm if you are an Alectra customer. Mississauga and parts of Vaughan and Markham are served by Alectra.
Recently Closed Programs
Canada Greener Homes Grant
The federal Greener Homes Grant closed to new applications in February 2024 and fully wound down December 31, 2025. It covered EV charger installation, insulation, windows, heat pumps, and more. While no longer accepting applicants, it's worth knowing for context.
If you applied before the deadline and are still awaiting payment, contact Natural Resources Canada directly.
ZEVIP Home Charger Rebate (Paused)
The Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) previously offered up to $1,000 toward home Level 2 charger installation in Ontario. The residential stream was paused in January 2025. The commercial/public stream (ChargeON) remains open for businesses and municipalities.

Trusted by Ontario Homeowners
Incredibly professional team. They assessed my 100A panel, recommended the DCC-12 EVEMS instead of a panel upgrade, and saved me over $3,000. My Tesla charges at full speed every night.
From quote to installation in 4 days. The electrician was on time, explained every step, and the work was immaculate. ESA inspection passed first try.
Had a detached garage situation that every other company said was complicated. EV Install Pro handled the trenching and sub-panel work without any issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does EV charger installation cost in Toronto?
Most Toronto homeowners pay between $1,800 and $2,800 for a complete Level 2 installation including the charger, dedicated 240V circuit, ESA permit, and inspection. Rebates can reduce this to under $900 net. Use our free calculator for a personalized estimate.
Do I need a permit to install an EV charger?
Yes - an ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) permit is legally required for all Level 2 EV charger installations in Ontario. We file the permit before arriving and schedule the final inspection. The permit is included in every quote at no extra charge.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in 3 to 5 hours in a single visit. We arrive with all materials and the permit already filed. By the end of the day, you are charging at home.
My home has a 100A panel. Can I still get a Level 2 charger?
Yes. A smart load management device called an EVEMS (or DCC-12) lets you charge at full Level 2 speed on a 100A panel without upgrading your service. It costs from $799 - a fraction of a $2,500 to $4,500 panel upgrade. We install both options and recommend the right one for your situation.
What rebates are available in Toronto and the GTA?
Ontario homeowners can stack multiple programs: the federal EVAP rebate (up to $5,000), Toronto Hydro PeakSaver Plus (up to $1,000 for Toronto Hydro customers), and Alectra Utilities rebates (up to $500 for York Region and west GTA). Combined with ULO rate savings, the net cost can be well under $1,000. We handle all applications.
Which EV charger brands do you install?
We install all major brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Grizzl-E, Wallbox Pulsar, JuiceBox, and Eaton. If you already own a CSA-certified Level 2 charger, we can install it. We also supply chargers at competitive prices if you need one.
