Ajax Uses Elexicon Energy

Ajax is served by Elexicon Energy, not Toronto Hydro or Alectra, so those utilities' programs do not apply. We could not confirm a current Elexicon residential EV charger rebate; its website lists guidance on installing EV chargers and its rate options instead.

What you can use today: the ULO overnight price plan and other Elexicon rate options, the federal EVAP on the vehicle, and pay-per-kWh charging rewards.

This page covers Ajax, Pickering Village, Westney Heights, Central West and Northeast Ajax. Check your bill to confirm your utility.

Rewards ProgramActive 2026
21¢ per kWh

WattsApp Home Charging Rewards

The only program on this page that pays you per kWh from the very first kWh. Install a Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3 or Universal) at your Ajax home, link it to your Tesla account, and WattsApp pays 21 points per kWh you charge (100 points = $1). At 5,000 kWh a year that is about $1,050, plus up to $150 a year in Supercharging reimbursements. Rates can change and earnings are not guaranteed.

Eligibility
  • Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 or Tesla Universal Wall Connector, linked to a Tesla account
  • A Tesla vehicle is not required (the Universal model also charges J1772 / CCS1 EVs)
  • The full 21 points per kWh requires selecting the +3 Triple Play reward (18 without it)
  • Points are redeemed by Interac e-Transfer from 10,000 points ($100)
Pro tip: Our installers are Tesla Certified. We install your charger, link it to your Tesla account and sign you up for WattsApp, and add a $10 Tim Hortons gift card when we do.
Rate ProgramActive 2026
3.9¢/kWh overnight

Elexicon Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) Rate Plan

Ontario's ULO price plan charges just 3.9¢ per kWh from 11 pm to 7 am every day, versus 9.8¢ off-peak and 15.7¢ mid-peak (rates set by the Ontario Energy Board for Nov 1, 2025 to Oct 31, 2026; prices reset each November 1). Charging 5,000 kWh a year overnight costs about $195, versus about $490 at 9.8¢ or $785 at 15.7¢. The tradeoff is a 39.1¢ on-peak price from 4 pm to 9 pm on weekdays, so ULO suits households that charge overnight.

Eligibility
  • Elexicon Energy residential customer with a smart meter
  • Switch through your utility account: no fee, and you can change plans later
  • Works best when most charging happens overnight
  • Needs a charger that can schedule charging (most smart Level 2 chargers can)
Pro tip: We set up overnight charging schedules during installation at no extra charge, so your charger runs in the cheapest window automatically.
FederalActive 2026
Up to $5,000

Federal EV Affordability Program (EVAP)

EVAP replaced the old iZEV program in February 2026 and gives up to $5,000 off a new battery-electric vehicle (up to $2,500 for a plug-in hybrid), applied at the dealership. It applies to the vehicle, not to the home charger or its installation.

Eligibility
  • New BEV or PHEV purchased or leased on or after Feb 16, 2026
  • Transaction value at or under $50,000 (no cap for Canadian-made EVs)
  • Vehicle must be on the Transport Canada eligible list
  • Applied at the point of sale: no paperwork for you
Pro tip: The $5,000 BEV amount is the 2026 maximum and is scheduled to step down in 2027. If you are buying soon, pair it with a charger booked in advance so you are ready on delivery day.

Programs you may see advertised that are closed

  • Canada Greener Homes Grant: Closed to new applications in February 2024 and wound down December 31, 2025.
  • ZEVIP Home Charger Rebate (residential stream): Paused in January 2025. The public and multi-unit streams are for businesses and condos, not single-family homes.
